First Reconciliation

We are very proud of all of the Year 2 children who showed great reverence and respect during the prayer service today.  We congratulate the children who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time and the children who received a special blessing. The children reverently said their penance and prayers of thanks to God. They will take home a special bag containing momentos of the wonderful celebration of God’s love and forgiveness.

Thank you to Margy Brooks, Celia Rolls, Sarah Hibberson and Corey Miller for preparing the children so well. Thank you also to Fr Joel and Fr Marco.

It certainly was a joyous celebration of God’s great love and healing power.    And pizza was enjoyed by all!  There are more photos on our Website Galleries Page.

Sunday Gospel

Last Sunday we celebrated the feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe (The Feast of Christ the King). This is the last Sunday of the Church’s Liturgical year.

 We heard in the Gospel:

Pilate asked Jesus, ‘Are you the King of the Jews?’ Jesus said, ‘My kingdom does not belong to this world; if it did, my followers would fight to keep me from being taken to the authorities. You say that I am king. I was born and came into the world for this one purpose: to speak about the truth. Whoever belongs to the truth listens to me.

Family Prayer

Lord God,

King of Heaven and Earth

We worship you!

We praise you!

We give you glory!

Amen

ADVENT

Sunday is the first Sunday of the new Liturgical Year. Advent is about joyful waiting. It is a time to reflect a sense of anticipation and in particular, the love, hope, joy and peace that are key to the season and foundational to our faith. During the season of Advent we remember the call of Jesus to His followers to make our world a peaceful and loving place and make a special effort to do this and to be signs that God is with us. This is what the word ‘Emmanuel’ means—God is with us. Advent is a kind of wake-up call for us to be ready to welcome the Lord in our midst. ‘Be awake’ is the motto for Advent.
