Co-Principal’s Message

Dear Parents,

The term is quickly coming to a close and there has been lots of wonderful work happening around our school. Congratulations to Mr Kittelty and his Tournament of Minds Teams. The teams competed in Wagga two weekends ago, and whilst there were no prizes, they certainly represented our school with pride. All involved agreed that it was a wonderful experience, allowing the children to use their creativity, critical thinking and communication skills.

Our Book Week celebrations were lots of fun and the week concluded with an assembly where each grade had the opportunity to present one of the shortlisted books. Congratulations to everyone for their enthusiastic participation.

Another congratulations to all our Year 6 students who received the Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday night. The children were well prepared which made for a beautiful celebration. Thank you to all our families for supporting your children on their Sacramental journey, and thank you to the Year 6 teachers, Jane Fawcett & Margy Brown for the preparation of this Sacrament.

Today our Year 6 choir sang at the opening of the Nagle Centre, Albury and St Vincent de Paul Housing. They certainly sang beautifully and were the perfect ambassadors for our school.

You can view lots of photos  of all of these events on our website galleries page. Thanks to our resident photographer Roy.

CEDWW have completed an e-safety risk review on our social media platforms and have made the following recommendations:

  • Advise parents not to film or photograph onsite at the school or at school events without the express permission of the principal.
  • Remind parents’ permission is required from each child’s parent, prior to posting clips or photos to social media.
  • Education to be provided to students, staff and parents about the need for accounts to be set to private.
  •  Further education for parents on the need for private Instagram accounts in the interest of their children’s safety.
  • Students need to be advised of the privacy concerns in having a Snapchat account. Children should not use TikTok.

In response to this there will be a “Keeping our children safe online” workshop next term. This will be held on Wednesday 23rd October, 5.30-7pm (Term 4, Week 2). The evening will be presented by Glenn McMahon. Glenn is the Principal of St Mary’s Corowa and prior to this, spent 11 years working as a Learning and Teaching Education Officer in the Sandhurst Diocese, focusing on the learning technology education space where a large part of the work he did was to support schools, students and parents. Year 5 and Year 6 students are also invited to attend this meeting with their parents, and are asked to bring their devices.

Congratulations to Rachel and Trent Perczyk on the safe arrival of Stella Helen. We wish you every blessing as you embark on the exciting journey of parenthood.

Regards, Liz and Rob.
