Principal’s Message

Dear Parents,

A very warm welcome to everyone. I trust that you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year and that you got to enjoy some time with family over the break. It is wonderful to see all the students return eager and happy to get back into work again.

We welcome back Fiona Davis who will be working in 3BD for Semester 1 while Kirby Hilton is on maternity leave.

We welcome to our school community Matthew Shipley 6PS, Riley Hopkins 6BS, Tomas Taylor 5FC, Riley O’Gorman 4A, Phoebe 3FH & Charlotte 1R Packer, Billy Hilton 2C, Ben Doubleday 2C, Molly Hopkins 2G, Vineet Malik 1R, Molly Hutchins 1KG and their families. We hope your time with us is enjoyable and rewarding.

At the end of my message is a list of staffing for 2016.

Our first day of term was a very productive one. We spent time working on the Year of Mercy as well as looking at the Lenten Units for Religious Education.

Part of our day was spent re-visiting Restorative practices and the language we will be using in situations of conflict. Included as part of this newsletter are the common questions that we will be using with students across the school when we are trying to resolve situations. They may be of help to you at home as well. It is important that we remain consistent in our approach to resolving difficult situations. Staff are also in the process of reviewing our Pastoral care and Wellbeing policy to align it more directly with the Restorative approach. This will be made available when it is completed.

As was mentioned at the end of last term, we have had a change in timetable for 2016. Our morning session will go from 9-11am, our middle session from 11.30 to 1.25pm. This will be followed by supervised eating from 1.25-1.35pm. The last session of the day will go from 2.05-3.10pm. This has occurred to allow staff time for collaborative planning and professional dialogue during their Professional Planning time.

Our initial Parent Teacher interviews will take place on Monday and Tuesday 15th and 16th February. Notes have been sent home today or you can download the note here.

Next Monday we will be welcoming our new Kinders for 2016. They have been having their Best Start assessments this week. We look forward to seeing them all again on Monday.

Next Monday is also our Years 3-6 swimming carnival day. We’re hoping for fine weather so that we can have a great day. If you will be available to help out on the day but have yet to let us know, then please contact the office. We can do with as many helpers as we can get. Parents are welcome to join us for this day. note

Just a reminder that the transition phase for our new sport shirts has commenced. The new shirt is the only shirt to be worn as school uniform.  They are available from Albury Uniform and School Supplies, Mate Street, North Albury and Lowes, Kiewa Street, Albury.

God Bless and have a great week

Marie
