Principal’s Message

Dear Parents / Carers

This week we mark  the halfway mark of the school year. To date, school life has been busy and very productive.

All of our  students have been working towards various learning goals and the teachers have been supporting them with these. It is so rewarding to spend time in classrooms and see how committed, both the children and teachers are, to the learning and teaching that is taking place. Thank you to the parents who were able to attend the interviews to share information in relation to your children. Also a reminder student reports are able to be accessed via the compass portal.

Year 3 will host our school Assembly this Friday at 11.30am in the Mercy Hall. At this gathering children will be presented with their First Eucharist certificates. All parents are welcome.

This Friday is Pyjama Day to raise much needed funds for the St. Vincent De Paul Winter Appeal. Children can wear their pyjamas on Friday and make a donation via the Compass Event or bring along on the day. A reminder the first day of Term 3 is a Pupil Free Day and children return to school on Tuesday 13th July.

In our last newsletter I mentioned road safety and ensuring that we are keeping our children safe as they arrive at the beginning of the day and leave at the end of the school day. This brochure is a worthwhile read, outlining important road safety behaviours. Please note that the staff car park gates will be locked until 9.30am and from 2.30pm each day starting next term. Entry and exit to the school is via Kiewa Street Gates.  (Smollett Street drop off)

Just a reminder that if your child/children are absent from school, you must indicate this through the Compass portal. Student attendance is monitored and Catholic Education Diocese of Wagga Wagga have a policy in regard to this, ensuring regular student attendance and that parents are meeting their obligations under the NSW Education Act, 1990. If non attendance becomes an issue, an attendance plan will need to be devised.

Marg Ferry is transitioning to retirement and this Friday will be her last full day at St. Pats. She will continue working here on a part time basis but at this point, we would like to thank her for the 32 years of continuous service which she has given to our school.

I hope everyone gets to spend some down time during the holidays and have a nice time with your families.

Regards  Liz
