RE News

In last Sunday’s Gospel (Luke 9:28-36) we heard the recount of Jesus’ transfiguration.

It was a special moment for Peter, James and John, when they witnessed the divinity of Jesus breaking through and becoming visible. One night when the four of them had gone up a mountain to pray, the face of Jesus became radiant and his clothes a dazzling white. Then there came a voice from heaven, ‘This is my Son, my Chosen one; listen to him.’ Soon the

moment had passed and they were alone again with the Jesus they knew. Our lives too are lived on different levels. There is the day-to-day round of familiar activities.

Then there are moments of grace and insight that break through into our lives – when we recognise the deeper level where our lives are intertwined with the divine life of God.

Family Prayer

Lord God,

You call us out of the darkness.

Fill us with your light.

Amen

ST. PATRICK’S DAY

We certainly know how to celebrate the feast day of our Patron Saint, St Patrick, here at St Patrick’s Parish School! Our school community celebrated Mass in honour of St Patrick. We asked God to help us to have total faith and trust in God as Patrick did. We also ask for the courage to spread God’s message of love to the people around us just as Patrick did for the people of Ireland.

Our whole school gathering, organized by Mrs Robertson and Mrs Brown, to support “Bullying No Way Day!” very powerfully shared an uplifting and inspiring message to be brave and stand up to stop bullies and to look after each other. This certainly upholds the work of St Patrick in spreading God’s message of love.

So much fun was had afterwards! The children enjoyed limerick reading, face painting, footy handball target, bean bag relays, sack races, Mr Potato Head relays, Green shaker races, Irish dancing, Tic Tac Toe races, Celtic colouring and the much loved parachute! Thank you to our great staff for making our feast day so special for the children.

A big thank you to the children who volunteered to sing in the school choir and act as lectors at the Parish Mass at 5.30pm on Sunday. It was a great way to celebrate St Patrick’s Day with our Parish community. Many of the parishioners expressed praise and thanks for the school’s involvement.
