Thanks to the parents who have emailed requests regarding classes and teachers for 2019. As I have previously said, I will always do the best that I can to accommodate these requests, but please remember sometimes our options are limited.

School Fees

Please ensure your 2018 fees are finalised by the end of this term. If you are paying by instalments please make sure this covers the amount owing. Contact the office if you have any questions.

Positive Behaviours

Thanks to everyone who responded. The results of the surveys found that in general staff, students and parents are happy with the process to date. We identified some areas that we need to improve in, particularly with education of parents, consistency with staff and making sure that students understand that this applies as much in the playground and school visits as it does in the classroom.

Our plan is to  address these areas from the start of  2019.

Improvements in Maths

I would like to publicly acknowledge the work of the students and staff on the improvements that we are seeing across the whole school, specifically in areas of Number via the “Targeting Maths” Initiative. Mrs Allibon and more recently, Mrs Allibon and  Mrs Dent have been working to assist teachers improve their skills in the teaching of Number. Teachers have also been provided with the opportunity to observe other teachers teach and then reflect on what they have seen and how this can be applied to their classroom experiences.

Grades 3 – 6 Bullying Survey

This survey has now been released. We have asked where possible that students complete this at home. Experience has shown us that students tend to be more forthcoming if it can be done at home. This is not an exercise in naming and shaming, what tends to happen is that the survey identifies areas that we need to be more vigilant with our supervision to try to prevent bullying happening.

School Raised Funds.

I am very much a believer that funds raised by the parent body need to spent and not stock piled. You and your children deserve to see what the hard work raising funds goes towards:

These are some of the projects we have on the go at the moment:

  • Electronic double sided sign at the Kiewa St Entrance
  • Development of sensory adventure playground in Zone 4.
  • Staff Professional Development Day – Growth Mindset
  • Training of 2 staff champions in UR Strong – to then inservice the whole staff and lead the introduction to the students. Empowering girls and boys in grades 1 to 6 with the skills, language, and self-confidence to be better friends and develop healthier relationships through our UR STRONG workshops and in-school curriculums.

Provision of new equipment in Zone 4, including…
